(2013) Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are a killer application of Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs), which exchange data among vehicles and vehicles to roadside infrastructures by routing. To save energy, various routing protocols for VANETs have been proposed in recent years. However, VANETs impose challenging issues to routing. These issues consist of dynamical road topology, various road obstacles, high vehicle movement, and the fact that the vehicle movement is constrained on roads and traffic conditions. Moreover, the movement is significantly influenced by driving behaviors and vehicle categories. To this end, we incorporate them into routing and propose ERBA for VANETs -an energy-efficient routing protocol. ERBA classifies vehicles into several categories, and then leverages vehicle movement trends to make routing recommendation. It predicts the movement trends by current directions and next directions after going through the road intersections. With the vehicular category information, the driving behavior patterns, the distance between the current sections and the next intersections, ERBA propagates information among vehicles with less energy consumption. The proposed scheme is validated by real urban scenarios extracted from ShanghaiGrid project. Experimental results show that ERBA outperforms the compared routing protocols with respect to the end-end delay, the packet delivery ratio and the path duration time.

ShanghaiGrid has a complex service-oriented infrastructure. Workflow management is emerging as one of the most important part of it. Because the grid environment is very dynamic and the services are shared among many users, it is impossible to optimize the workflow from the point of view of execution ahead of time. In fact, one may want to make decisions about the execution locations and the access to a particular data set as late as possible. In this paper, we propose a method of using Contract Net Protocol(CNP) to implement service-oriented workflow mapping in ShanghaiGrid workflow management system(SHGWMS). Three types of workflow in SHGWMS are denoted as Abstract workflow(AW), Concrete workflow(CW) and Executable workflow(EW). Belief-DesireIntention(BDI) agent technology in SHGWMS helps the system meet challenges from the grid context. CNP provides a very proper negotiation model for agents. The problem of workflow mapping has been transferred to the problem of multi-agent negotiation with the help of CNP model in SHGWMS. We also propose AW2CW mapping algorithm and CW2EW mapping algorithm to accomplish service-oriented workflow mapping.

To enable smart transportation, a large volume of vehicular GPS trajectory data has been collected in the metropolitanscale Shanghai Grid project. The collected raw GPS data, however, suffers from various errors. Thus, it is inappropriate to use the raw GPS dataset directly for many potential smart transportation applications. Map matching, a process to align the raw GPS data onto the corresponding road network, is a commonly used technique to calibrate the raw GPS data. In practice, however, there is no ground truth data to validate the calibrated GPS data. It is necessary and desirable to have ground truth data to evaluate the effectiveness of various map matching algorithms, especially in complex environments. In this paper, we propose truthFinder, an interactive map matching system for ground truth data exploration. It incorporates traditional map matching algorithms and human intelligence in a unified manner. The accuracy of truthFinder is guaranteed by the observation that a vehicular trajectory can be correctly identified by human-labeling with the help of a period of historical GPS dataset. To the best of our knowledge, truthFinder is the first interactive map matching system trying to explore the ground truth from historical GPS trajectory data. To measure the cost of human interactions, we design a cost model that classifies and quantifies user operations. Having the guaranteed accuracy, truthFinder is evaluated in terms of operation cost. The results show that truthFinder makes the cost of map matching process up to two orders of magnitude less than the pure human-labeling approach.
