SF System: Transmission Tests, Computations and Equalization During Installation

Abstract: The SF Submarine Cable System relies on equalization of accumulated misalignment at regular intervals along the length of the system to achieve performance objectives. Transmission tests of the undersea system during installation are required to implement this equalization. This article describes the tests that are conducted and the computations used to select equalizer settings just before an equalizer is overboarded.
