“…The main chemical reaction formulas are given in Equations (1)- (20). Compared with the SF 6 decomposition behaviours in GIS [20], the proportion of CO 2 exceeds that of SO 2 under the A-type metal protrusion defect, whereas the proportions of the two components under B-type protrusion defect are close to GIS conditions, which is in line with our anticipations.…”

“…The main chemical reaction formulas are given in Equations ()–(). Compared with the SF 6 decomposition behaviours in GIS [20], the proportion of CO 2 exceeds that of SO 2 under the A‐type metal protrusion defect, whereas the proportions of the two components under B‐type protrusion defect are close to GIS conditions, which is in line with our anticipations. For metal particles defect, the PD under GIS conditions produces almost no CO 2 , whereas the proportion of CO 2 under bushing conditions reaches 14.06%, even more than SO 2 F 2 .…”

“…Besides, since the generation rate of decomposed components was associated with the severity of discharge [91], it can assess the severity of the defect. For statistical representation, the effective generation rate was considered [10]. Another study also reported using the enhanced concentration ratio (SO2F2)/(SOF2) by using the effective characteristic ratio to identify the PD energy statistically [29].…”

“…SF 6 has been widely used as insulation medium for the operation safety of gas-insulated equipment due to its insulation and excellent arc extinguishing characteristics. However, in long-running gas-insulated equipment, SF 6 would decompose in partial discharge to F atoms and other low fluorinated sulfur species, which further react with trace H 2 O, trace O 2 , and organic solid insulation material to generate HF, COF 2 , CS 2 , SO 2 , SOF 2 , SO 2 F 2 , S 2 F 10 , etc. It has been proved that detecting SF 6 characteristic decomposed products by chemical sensors is a feasible and effective method to online monitoring and insulation defect diagnosis of gas-insulated equipment. …”
