The family represents a privileged place for the detection of signs and symptoms of violence against children and adolescents, especially against boys, phenomenon underreported. The purpose of this paper was to broaden the understanding about issues related to family dynamics in sexual violence against boys by the use of qualitative method; in order to do so, it was made a documentary research of three cases of boys attended at a health service. Three main axes were highlighted in this article: the importance of family in the disclosure of sexual abuse, stigmas and prejudices, and the proximity of the offenders to the boys. It was observed that family dynamics actively influenced the abusive processes because of its possibility to favor protective or unprotected settings and also for the presence of issues such as transgenerationality and confusion in the family role plays. Thus, it is essential that interventions are also directed to the families, so that they are instructed to better protect the boys.

Childhood Sexual Abuse in Adolescents Adjudicated for Sexual Offenses: Mental Health Consequences and Sexual Offending Behaviors

Most studies on the mental health consequences of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) focus predominantly on CSA survivors who do not commit sexual offenses. The current study examined the effects of CSA on 498 male adolescents adjudicated for sexual offenses who represent the small portion of CSA survivors who engage in sexual offenses. The prevalence of internalizing symptoms, parental attachment difficulties, specific sexual offending behaviors, and risk for sexually offending were compared among participants with and without a history of CSA. Results indicated that participants with a history of CSA were more likely to be diagnosed with major depression and posttraumatic stress disorder than those who did not report a history of CSA. A history of CSA was also positively correlated with risk for sexually offending and with specific offense patterns and consensual sexual behaviors. No significant differences emerged on parental attachment difficulties. These results highlight that adolescents adjudicated for sexual offenses with a history of CSA present with differences in sexual and psychological functioning as well as markedly different offending patterns when compared with those without a CSA history. Clinical implications and future directions are discussed.

Trata-se de pesquisa qualitativa sobre os pensamentos de risco (fantasias sexuais) de um adulto ofensor sexual (55 anos, cumpriu pena restritiva de liberdade) atendido em uma instituição pública de saúde. Buscou-se, por meio de pesquisa documental, conhecer o desenvolvimento das fantasias sexuais em relação ao assédio sexual. O contexto foi o de uma instituição de saúde, e o foco foi o assédio a três vítimas meninas (oito, nove e 10 anos). As informações foram coletadas em uma entrevista que teve a duração de duas horas. Realizou-se a leitura das informações sobre os pensamentos/fantasias que surgem diante de um possível assalto sexual a uma criança e/ou adolescente. A discussão versou sobre: o pensamento de risco; as reações da vítima; e o processo de justificativa para a ação violenta. O conhecimento dos pensamentos de risco devem fazer parte de qualquer intervenção com essa população de ofensores sexuais adultos e ser visto como parte do circuito protetivo de crianças e adolescentes.
