“…In line with some prior studies (Wu, Liu, Zhang, et al, 2022), binary logistic regression analysis was then performed to investigate the possible associations between all socio-demographic/psychological factors (age, sex, years of education, ethnicity, province, single child, parental separation, left-behind experiences, family history of mental disorders, depression, anxiety, psychotic-like experiences, family functioning, and psychological resilience) and childhood OP/OC experiences after adjusting for the confounding effects of other variables. The statistical significance was set at p < 0.05 (two-tailed) after false discovery rate (FDR) corrections.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, this study is one of the first reports to suggest a positive relationship between OP/OC and psychotic-like experiences. Psychotic-like experiences are subclinical delusion-like or hallucinationlike symptoms, which are related to increased risks of developing subsequent mental disorders (Wu, Liu, Zhang, et al, 2022). Previous studies have shown that some other subtypes of childhood trauma such as abuses and neglects would strongly increase the risks of developing schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders (Chaiyachati & Gur, 2021;Vieira et al, 2020), which may be presented as having psychotic-like experiences in the early stage (Read et al, 2005).…”

“…For instance, one study using a state-clustering algorithm suggested that the females’ brain networks switch connectivity states less frequently than the males’ and can thus be considered more stable over time [ 43 ]; in another study using the temporal clustering coefficient, it was found that the females’ brain networks are more stable than the males’ and such differences are significant at both the global and regional (particularly within the default-mode and subcortical regions) levels [ 14 ]. These findings may not only highlight the necessity to control for sex effects in dFC studies, but also provide valuable insight into the sex differences in clinical characteristics of many mental problems and disorders (e.g., females are more likely to be affected by depression) [ 48 , 49 , 50 ].…”

“…In the survey, several important confounding factors need to be considered. In addition to the socio-demographic characteristics [e.g., sex ( 34 ), age ( 27 )] that has been shown to be potentially related to PLEs, the environmental factors (family and school) in which the adolescents were exposed to need to be examined. The current study used family function and school climate to represent two environmental factors of family and school respectively.…”
