@ERSpublications Women are more likely to report mMRC breathlessness and this appears to be related to smaller lung volume Breathlessness is a complex symptom that results from the interplay of physiological, psychological, social and environmental factors [1]. Breathlessness is also common, and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality [2,3]. A number of studies have shown that breathlessness is reported more frequently by women than men, both from population-based surveys and in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [4].
