A detailed review of the available light water reactor source term information is presented as a tech_fical basis for development of updated source terms into the containment under severe accident conditions. Simplified estimates of radionuclide release and transport characteristics are specified for each unique combination of the reactor coolant and containment system conditions. A quantitative uncertainty analysis in the release to the containment using NUREG-1150 methodology is also presented.
