Settling behavior of polydisperse droplets in homogeneous isotropic turbulence
Abstract:The settling behavior of polydisperse droplets in homogeneous and isotropic turbulence was measured by an ultra-high-resolution two-dimensional Particle Image Velocimetry. The aim of the present study is to provide new insight on the dependence of multi-scale particle settling behavior on characteristic parameters of two-phase turbulent flow via a sophisticate conditional analysis. The relative settling strength (defined as the ratio of mean droplet settling velocity to root mean square velocity of turbulence)… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
