Foundation settlement is a common problem in civil engineering. In the case of un-even settlement, it can lead to structural de-formation and damage, which seriously affects the safety and reliability of the project. Therefore, the influence of adjusting the stiffness of the foundation on un-even settlement was analyzed through finite element analysis to effectively solve un-even settlement. By simulating the settlement of soil under different foundation stiffness and load conditions, the influence of foundation stiffness adjustment on soil de-formation and settlement distribution was analyzed, and its impact on structural safety was evaluated. These studies confirmed that thickened layers could effectively solve the un-even settlement. Within the range of 0.2 to 1.0 meters, the difference in thickness was the greatest. The adjustment of differential settlement by layer thickness was phased and decreased with increasing thickness. Adjusting the stiffness of the foundation could effectively solve un-even settlement, reduce differences in soil settlement, and improve the overall stability and safety of the structure. These results have important guiding significance for the design of foundation and the solution of un-even settlement problems in engineering practice and provide certain reference and basis for further research.

A six-degree-of-freedom mathematical model and mechanical balance equation of a “five-point-contact” aircraft are established in this study. The model and equation are used to investigate the safety and stability of a tunnel structure under the runway of an airport, particularly when aircraft taxi or move on the runway. ABAQUS is used to construct a three-dimensional finite element model of the cooperative deformation of the airport runway–soil–tunnel structure. The analysis focuses on the response and evolution of structural safety mechanical indices from the perspective of three influencing factors: type of aircraft, road surface, and burial depth. The results show that the distribution position of the main landing gear wheel is more concentrated using the dynamic load equation of different aircraft. A rigid pavement is not easily deformed when subjected to aircraft loads, whereas a flexible pavement has an excellent attenuation effect on diffusing forces. The shear stresses on the upper and lower arches of the tunnel structure differ depending on the pavement material. The deformation of the arches under shear stress is more intense than that of other parts. With an increase in burial depth, the tunnel structure withstanding the aircraft load disturbance exhibits an attenuation trend. The disturbance caused by soil stress to the tunnel structure must not be ignored. When the burial depth of the tunnel exceeds 64 m, the tunnel structure ceases to be disturbed by aircraft loads. The research results can significantly guide airport construction and be used as a reference for investigating the safety and stability of substructures under airport runways.

The use of the segmental pipe section immersed tunnel suffers from several problems, such as complex construction, weak foundation, great water depth, great thickness of siltation back on the top of the tube, and difficult settlement control. Based on Winkel’s elastic foundation beam theory, a mechanical calculation model is established according to the case of an inhomogeneous soil layer, and the force and deformation of the structural system of the immersed tube tunnel are calculated based on a bridge in Zhuhai as an example of an immersed tube tunnel. The results show that the derived formula for calculating the allowable differential settlement per unit length of the longitudinally immersed tube is applicable to the sudden change type foundation stiffness deformation model of the natural foundation section of the tube tunnel of the aforementioned bridge in Zhuhai. The relationship between the settlement control index and related influencing factors is analyzed. Hence, a formula for calculating the stratified ground foundation’s integrated bed coefficient is derived, and the equations for tunnel deflection curves and shear forces are solved. A set of calculation methods that are applicable to the foundation settlement control criteria of the segmental immersed tunnel is provided, and the results provide a significant reference for the optimization of the foundation scheme and improvement of the construction process for similar projects.
