Service-oriented architecture for ontologies supporting multi-agent system negotiations in virtual enterprise

Abstract: This paper offers a service-oriented architecture (SOA) for ontology-based multi-agent system (MAS) negotiations in the context of virtual enterprises (VEs). The objective of this paper is fourfold. First, it is to design a SOA which utilizes ontology and MAS to provide a distributed and interoperable environment for automated negotiations in VE. In this architecture, individual ontologies for both the VE initiator and its potential partners are constructed to describe and store resources and service knowledge… Show more

“…During the last decades, a large number of MAS related research in MGC have been proposed [27,[202][203][204][205][206][207]. For instance, in [27], an energy management strategy based on MAS is established and applied in MGC.…”

“…In [203], a MAS is used to handle the power balance of each MG, and the MGC participates in the operation of the upper network. A service oriented architecture (SOA) based on MAS is constructed to adapt to the changing operating environment of the MGC [204]. Besides, a MAS combined with a model-based optimization algorithm is designed in [205], which guarantees the balance of continuous power at the minimum cost in MGC.…”

“…Certain models extend their coverage of PLM and reach out to other process-centric paradigms such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) [1,7], Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) [1] and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) [8], forming a synergy that would increase even more the potential of sustainable growth in revenue, profitability and market share. Proposed methods use various semantic exchange mechanisms such as mediation web services [1,9], Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) semantic services [6,9], intelligent agents [2,10], Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) [4,11] and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) message broadcasting [5] to resolve the syntactic and semantic heterogeneity between the systems.…”
