“…For example, bGLU activity was 2-folds higher in the blood samples of 21 patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma compared to healthy controls [96]. Based on cell maturity and clinical grading, enzyme activity was highest in subjects with low or moderately differentiated cells and in subjects with tumours infiltrating surrounding tissues and organs or visceral peritoneum respectively.…”

“…Additional molecules, such as the orphan nuclear receptors, Nur77, RARγ and WNT, signal the inhibitors, OVOL2, Myb-like SWIRM and MPN domains 1 (MYSM1), which influence the invasion, metastasis and progression of CRC (14,(20)(21)(22). Some bioactive enzymes, such as serum β-glucuronidase, are also considered potential markers of CRC (23). Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that can function as an oncogene by participating Long non-coding RNA 00152 functions as a competing endogenous RNA to regulate NRP1 expression by sponging with miRNA-206 in colorectal cancer in the development and progression of various types of cancer (24,25), including CRC (26).…”

“…Activity of urinary HEX and other exoglycosidases may be helpful in the diagnostics of pancreatic [31] and colon [32] cancers. Detection of HEX and its isoenzyme activity in stools may be used in elaboration of screening markers for detection of the colon cancer [59]. Determination of HEX activity in serum and saliva may be used for the diagnostics and control of salivary gland tumors [25].…”

“…In the case of β-D-galactosidase, there are suggestions that increase in serum GAL activity that may be applied for the diagnostics of glandular colon cancer [59] and larynx cancer [67]. Serum β-D-glucuronidase may be a useful marker for recurrence of liver inflammation [68] and increase in proteoglycans degradation in diabetes [69].…”
