The current study aimed to estimate of Magnesium Mg+ in adults in Obesity, Overweight and Normal weight and compare them and the relationship of magnesium with Body mass index BMI ,waist circumference WC and lipid profile Materials and Methods: This study included 100 people (29) 29% males and (71) 71% females whose ages were over 20 years old. They were Also divided according to nutritional status into obese group, overweight group and normal weight. The information required for the samples was recorded and BMI was measured, WC , Mg level and lipid profile were measured .Results: The results showed a decrease in the magnesium level in the obese as well as in the overweight and it was normal in the normal weight. The level of magnesium decreased in women and was higher in men in all feeding conditions, and the BMI of women was higher than that of men. The results of this work showed that there is an inverse negative relationship between Mg and each of BMI, WC, TCHO, TG ,LDL while the positive correlation between Mg and HDL.Conclusion: In finally, magnesium deficiency can be considered one of the factors that lead to obesity, and diseases associated with obesity.

Background: Obesity is the leading public health crisis of our time. A chronic imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure will eventually lead to obesity. Several micronutrients are found to be involved in the development of obesity. Magnesium is found to have some role in the development of obesity. Aims and Objective: Objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation of serum magnesium with different parameters of obesity such as body weight, basal metabolic rate, waist circumference (WC), and waist-hip ratio on the basis of the hypothesis that subjects with hypomagnesemia are more prone to develop obesity. Materials and Methods: This is a population-based cross-sectional study. A total of 130 apparently healthy adults of age between 25 and 65 years, were recruited with prior ethical approval and written informed consent. Results: Serum magnesium was found to have significant negative correlation with body weight (r = −0.30, P = 0.003) and WC (r = −0.21, P = 0.03). Correlation with rest of the parameters was not significant. Conclusion: On the basis of results it is concluded that hypomagnesemia can be proved to be one of the important predictors of obesity.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a collection of symptoms that arise in a person caused by an increase in blood glucose levels due to a progressive decrease in insulin secretion. magnesium (Mg) plays an important role in insulin secretion, insulin binding, and homeostasis. Mg Serum level is an important factor in the etiology and development of macrovascular and microvascular complications in diabetes mellitus patients. HbA1c in DM patients is used to monitor glycemic control and predict the progression of diabetes complications. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between serum magnesium and HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The design of this study was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The data used are secondary data obtained from patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Fatmawati General Hospital for the period 2019 – 2020. The research sample used was 84 data for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Analysis of the data used includes descriptive analysis and then hypothesis testing using the Spearman correlation test. The result of this study showed an association between serum magnesium and HbA1c levels with a value of p = 0,000 (p ≤ 0,05) and r = 0,513. The conclusion obtained in this study is that there is a strong negative pattern relationship between serum magnesium and HbA1c levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
