Serum Levels and in Vitro Production of Th1- and Th2-Type Cytokines by Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells in Patients Suffering from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Abstract: Kratak sadr`aj: U serumu bolesnika sa sistemskim lupusom eritematodesom odre|ivani su Th1 i Th2 citokini i adhezioni molekuli a u kulturi mononuklearnih }elija periferne krvi (PBMC) produkcija citokina. Faktor tumorske nekroze-alfa (TNF-a), interferon-gama (IFN-g), interleukin1b (IL-1b), IL-4, IL-10, IL-13, inter}elijski adhezioni molekul-1 (ICAM-1) i vaskularni }elijski adhezioni molekul-1 (VCAM-1) mereni su ELISA tehnikom u serumu 16 bolesnika sa sistemskim lupusom eritematodesom bez vaskulita (SLE), 30 bole… Show more

“…The decreased IL-8 and TNF-α levels in nasal secretions were associated with reduction in polyp size in nonallergic patients, whereas in allergic ones only reduction of IL-8 levels relates with polyp shrinkage. TNF-α is secreted by macrophages, monocytes and NK cells and many other cell types 17,18 . TNF-α, among other cytokines can regulate fibroblast activity and collagen formation through modulation of collagenase activity 18 .…”

TNF-α, among other cytokines can regulate fibroblast activity and collagen formation through modulation of collagenase activity 18 . Relationship between decreased levels of TNF-α in nasal fluid and shrinkage of polyps can be explained by several recently published findings.…”
