Serum Hormones and the Alcohol-Breast Cancer Association in Postmenopausal Women

Abstract: Results suggest a possible mechanism by which consumption of one or two alcoholic drinks per day by postmenopausal women could increase their risk of breast cancer.

Since CYP19 is also involved in the biosynthesis of oestrogen, the CYP19 genotype and alcohol consumption may synergistically increase breast cancer risk by affecting both synthesis and metabolism of oestrogen.…”
