“…In accordance, several previous studies reported slightly lower mean serum vitamin D level in PHG patients compared to controls without statistical significance 11,19 . Furthermore, Anggraini and Feriyawati 6 measured serum vitamin D among 100 PHG patients. They revealed low serum vitamin D levels among PHG patients but also without statistical significance.…”

“…Many studies have reported significantly lower serum ferritin levels in PHG patients compared to controls 10,11,19 . However, measurement of serum ferritin levels among 100 PHG patients in Anggraini and Feriyawati 6 revealed 91 patients had normal serum ferritin, only six patients had low ferritin levels while three patients had high serum ferritin. Higher values of serum ferritin which were recorded in their study, could be attributed to exclusion of any female in the reproductive age group with excessive menstrual losses.…”

“…Krugluger et al (2011) informed that vitamin B12 and minerals play a role in pigmentation and hair growth [20], while another study showed that premature canities were associated with deficiency calcium and vitamin D3. The pilot study showed decreased vitamin D levels, but serum ferritin was normally at PHG [21], [22].…”

“…Anggraini et al also had fair quality, because they did not explain the existence of informed consent and did not have a control group as a comparison. Both studies used a cross-sectional study [27]. Tables 2 and 3 show the assessments of the quality of the included studies.…”
