Abstract:Inadequate nutrient intake, a survival benchmark in cancer cells, leads to oxidative stress (OS) disrupting homeostasis, activating signaling, and altering metabolism. As reactive oxygen species (ROS) increase, oxidative stressors activate mechanisms allowing cancer cells to adapt and survive. Our data suggests that nutrient‐deprived cancer cells tolerate OS. Moreover, a quiescent phenotype along with nuclear factor‐kappaB (NF‐κB) signaling may synergistically protect tumor cells from OS induced by nutrient de… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
