“…However, PLTP circulates in an active and an inactive form, implying that PLTP activity and mass levels are not tightly related . Therefore, the exogenous substrate assay systems applied for LCAT and PLTP activity measurement allowed us to determine whether their relationships with suspected NAFLD were not to a considerable extent attributable to NAFLD‐associated elevations in circulating apoB‐containing triglyceride‐rich lipoproteins per se …”

“…Thus, the concept is emerging that NAFLD should be regarded as a multisystem disorder and as such predisposes to cardiometabolic diseases . Additionally, it is well known that atherogenic changes in apolipoprotein (apo)B‐containing lipoproteins are very common in NAFLD . Furthermore, high plasma apoB concentrations may predict the development of NAFLD as determined by ultrasound, underscoring the close interrelationship between NAFLD and dyslipidaemia.…”

“…All participants are adults who attended their annual health check‐ups at Zhenhai Lianhua Hospital, Ningbo, China in 2006. The study population has been described in our previous studies . We excluded participants as follows: (i) those with alcohol consumption higher than 140 g/week for men and 70 g/week for women; (ii) those with a history of viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, or other forms of chronic liver disease; (iii) those taking lipid‐lowering drugs or antidiabetic drugs or using medications associated with liver function decline; (iv) those with a BMI less than 18.50 kg/m 2 ; (v) those over 65 years old, and (vi) those who had NAFLD at baseline.…”
