Serum anti-SERPINE1 antibody as a potential biomarker of acute cerebral infarction

Abstract: The presence of disease-specific antigens and autoantibodies in the sera of patients with atherosclerosis-related diseases has been widely reported and is considered to result from inflammation of the arterial wall and the involvement of immune factors. The aim of this study was to identify a novel antibody in patients with ischemic stroke by serological identification of antigens using recombinant cDNA expression cloning from patients who had a transient ischemic attack (TIA). We identified the serpin peptida… Show more

“…Moreover, the expression of AKT regulator Phlpp1 , was significantly reduced following MSC-EV treatment in SBH/y-DS, implying diminished cell death and vascular disruption ( Figure 5 F) [ 31 ]. Expression of both Serpine1 and S100a6 mRNA was higher in DOCA-salt SBH/y than sham SBH/y, and normalized by MSC-EV treatment, suggesting anti-thrombotic and anti-neurodegenerative activities of the MSC-EVs ( Figure 5 G,H, respectively) [ 32 , 33 ]. Notably, all gene alternations, with the exception of Phlpp1 , were not significantly different for each gene separately, although they all shared a common trend.…”

“…Serpin family E member 1 (Serpine1) is the principal inhibitor of tissue plasminogen activator and urokinase and encodes a member of a superfamily of serine protease inhibitors. Serpine1 has been found to be closely related to thrombosis [ 19 ], tumor progression [ 20 ], immune escape [ 21 ], and inflammatory response [ 22 ]. Spp1 (Secreted Phosphoprotein 1) is a protein-encoded gene that encodes the protein involved in osteoclast differentiation and attachment of mineralized bone matrix.…”

“…AS is associated with chronic inflammation, has characteristics resembling those of autoimmune diseases, and is always accompanied by the formation of various antigens such as oxidized low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and heat shock proteins (HSP) related to autoimmunity ( 17 ). The levels of autoantibodies against LDL and HSP increase in the sera of patients with atherosclerotic diseases ( 87 ).…”
