Seroprevalence of visceral leishmaniasis and its associated factors among asymptomatic pastoral community of Dire District, Borena zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia

Abstract: Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a vector-borne protozoan neglected tropical disease. In some parts of Ethiopia, it is a public health problem and its main causative agent is the Leishmania donovani complex. “…Similar to the present study, thatched roof houses increased the risk of infection with VL in a study conducted in northwest Ethiopia [6,12]. Similarly, the risk of VL increased in mudwalled houses (AOR = 2.538, P = 0.003), which was comparable with studies conducted in different parts of Ethiopia [4,12,15,35] and in different parts of the world [36][37][38].
