Serologic Assay for Diagnosis of Celiac Disease Based on a Patient-Derived Monoclonal Antigliadin Antibody

Abstract: We developed an antigliadin inhibition assay that identifies patients with celiac disease with high levels of specificity and sensitivity. It may prove useful as an adjunct to the current assay for anti-TG2 IgA.

“…Recently, AlphaLISA has rapidly been developed for a wide range of clinical applications because of its high sensitivity, high throughput, and simple operation procedure. Some clinical diagnostic assays have appeared, including hepatitis B surface antigen, HE4, allergic celiac disease, and preeclampsia detection kits, among others . Our competitive AlphaLISA showed the optimal performance for serum stathmin‐1 detection.…”

“…12 "Normal" Mucosae Harbor Subtle Pathologic Processes Laboratory-based advances in celiac disease diagnosis have been COMMENTARIES facilitated through IgA antiendomysial and antitransglutaminase (TG2) antibodies assayed serologically, immunohistologically, or from cultured biopsy supernatants; and IEL characterized by immunohistology or flow cytometry. Assays for highly discriminatory gluten subfractions 13 or deamidated gliadins 14 might, ultimately, undermine traditional histopathology.…”
