This paper proposes a multilevel shunt active power filter (SAPF) to deal with either harmonic currents compensation or reactive power compensation. Such a device can reduce the harmonic distortion at the grid currents provided by non-linear loads located in stiff systems. The proposed SAPF is based on three-phase bridge (TPB) converters connected to cascaded single-phase transformers. The transformers arrangement permits the compensator to use a single dc-link unit which simplifies the control strategy and number of sensors. The multilevel waveforms are generated by using a suitable PWM strategy associated with the transformers turns ratio. Modularity and simple maintenance make the proposed SAPF an attractive solution compared to some conventional configurations. The model, PWM technique and control strategy, are presented as well as studies considering harmonic distortion and semiconductor losses estimation. Simulation and experimental results are presented in order to validate theoretical approaches.

This paper starts with the benchmark analysis of shunt active power filter (SAPF) for adjustingeither compensations of harmonic current or compensating reactive power. Such equipment can capable of minimizing the content of harmonics present in the grid side generated by the non-linear loads. The proposed work represents the proficient responseof shunt active power filter for annihilates the contents of harmonics to keep the better quality of power supply.The implementation of SAPF on three-phase bridge (TPB) converters associated with cascaded single-stage transformers has been introduced.The transformers arrangements allow the compensator to utilize one dc-link unit that simplifies the management strategy and themode of operation. The system waveforms are provided by employing an appropriate pulse width modulation (PWM) technique having good co-relation with transformer turn ratio. System overview and easy maintenance create the projected SAPF has an efficient solution related with some standard previous configured model. The proposed model, PWM method and the control managements are given also as studies considering non-linear distortion and switching losses estimation. A MATLAB Simulink has been used to validate theImplementation of SAPF based on Cascaded Transformers Coupled with Three-Phase Bridge Converters.

This paper introduces a new breed of four-wire (4W) multilevel shunt compensator to deal with either harmonic or reactive power compensation. The converter configurations are generalized for K-stages and the main benefits of proposed topologies lie on i) multilevel waveforms generation, ii) single dclink unit and iii) modular characteristic. The configurations are based on cascaded transformers along with three-phase-bridge (TPB) converters. These converters are directly connected to the transformer primary side. A suitable PWM strategy combined with an appropriate transformer turns ratio guarantees the desirable multilevel output waveforms. The modularity feature provides simple maintenance and makes the proposed shunt active power filters (SAPFs) an attractive solution in comparison with conventional configurations. The configuration model and overall control are addressed, as well. Simulation and experimental results are presented for theoretical validation.
