SYNOPSISObservations in the neonatal period made on 2.768 infants showed the most frequent 'disturbance' of respiration to be a rapid respiratory rate alone. A respiratory rate of more than 60 for 3 hours is called Neonatal Tachypnoea. The incidence of neonatal tachypnoea in relation to birth weight, sex, maternal disease and complications of delivery is presented. Acid-base values were compared with those found in normal control infants.
