“…13 Due to the high selectivity and sensitivity of ETAAS as well as its cost effectiveness, this method is one of the most powerful and popular analytical tools for the determination of low concentrations of heavy metals present in complex matrices. 14,15 However, this technique presents some problems, mainly related to the formation of thermally stable, non-volatile species, particularly the carbides of some elements (including vanadium) on the surface on the graphite atomizer and the consequent memory effects. 16–18 Some of these problems could be overcome by using graphite platforms (L'vov pyrolytic graphite platforms, PGPs) with the purpose to increase the life of the tubes and to minimize memory effects.…”
