Sequential enumeration of peripheral blood T cell subsets in lichen planus

Abstract: Summary Peripheral blood T lymphocytes and T cell subsets were examined in fifteen patients with lichen planus prior to and for 4 months during treatment. The percentages of different T cell sub‐populations were defined by indirect immunofluorescence using monoclonal antibodies OKT3, OKT4 and OKT8. These are specific markers of total T cells, helper‐inducer T cells and suppressor‐cytotoxic T cells respectively. Decreased percentages of suppressor T cells and elevated helper suppressor ratios were observed befo… Show more

“…Previous immunological studies of OLP patients have already suggested a reduced CD8 lymphocyte expression on peripheral blood : comparing lichen and a control group, our results follow these findings, evidencing a lower expression of CD8 lymphocytes both on RL and WL groups compared with the control group, and this confirms the association of OLP with altered immune expression. A classic reduced expression of CD4 lymphocytes in peripheral blood, underlined by Porter et al.…”

“…Moreover, a statistical ly significant reduced percentage of OKT8 lymphocytes was found in peripheral blood of patients with LP as compared with healthy controls [21,23]. It has also been published that the majority of intraepidermal Leu-3a/OKT4-, HLA-DR-positive cells detected were Langerhans cells [24].…”

“…По данным пролиферативного ответа на Т-митогены, функциональная активность Т-клеток периферической крови у большинства больных несколько снижена [115]. Уровень В-лимфоцитов при ПЛ, как правило, не изменя-ется; некоторыми авторами отмечено снижение уровня IgA в сыворотке крови.…”
