Although the deployment of alternating current (AC)-busbar plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging station with photovoltaic (PV) is a promising alternative, the interaction among subsystems always causes the instability problem. Meanwhile, the conventional generalized Nyquist criterion (GNC) is complex, and it is not suitable for the design of the AC system. Therefore, this paper proposes a modified infinityone-norm (MION) stability criterion based on the impedance method to assess the stability of the foresaid charging station. Firstly, the typical structure and operation modes of the charging station are studied. Furthermore, each subsystem impedance matrix is built by small-signal method, and the MION stability criterion based on impedance method is proposed to assess the charging station stability. Compared with the previous simplified stability criteria based on the norm, the proposed criterion has lower conservatism. Furthermore, the design regulation for the controller parameters is provided, and the stability recovery way is provided by connecting the doubly-fed line and energy storage equipment, which are selected based on intermediate variable, i. e., short-circuit ratio (SCR). Finally, the effectiveness and conservatism of the proposed stability criterion are validated through simulation and experimental results.

This paper presents the analysis and mitigation of sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) for doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) under virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control, based on impedance methods. VSGs are considered to have grid-supporting ability and good stability in inductance-based weak grids, and are implemented in renewable power generations, including DFIG systems. However, stability analyses of VSGs for DFIG connecting with series capacitor compensation are absent. Therefore, this paper focuses on the analysis and mitigation of SSR for DFIG under VSG control. Impedance modeling of DFIG systems is used to analyze SSR stability. Based on impedance analysis, the influence of VSG control parameters and the configuration of damping factor of reactive power are discussed. Next, a parameter configuration method to mitigate SSR is proposed. Finally, time-domain simulation and fast fourier transform (FFT) results are given to validate the correctness and effectiveness of the impedance model and parameter configuration methods.

The application of virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) in power systems is gradually increasing to address the low inertia issue caused by the high penetration of renewable energy sources. Besides, the stability of microgrids (MGs) is threatened by constant power loads (CPLs) consisting of power electronic converters with closed‐loop controllers. To investigate the stability of the MG composed of VSG and CPL, this paper analyzes the operational principles of VSG and CPL, revealing that only the bipolar switch logic function is suitable for establishing a closed‐loop model if the output of the inner‐loop controller is considered as the duty cycle of the PWM signal. Furthermore, the closed‐loop impedance models of VSG and CPL were established in the dq frame. Impedance‐based analysis results show that the MG is prone to oscillation in the mid‐band. Therefore, the active power loop parameters of the VSG have a small impact on the stability of the MG, while the LC filter and inner loop controllers have a greater impact on the stability. Based on the oscillation mechanism and passivity theory, the impedance reshaping strategy for VSG and CPL is proposed. It is verified that the proposed control strategy can significantly improve the stability of the MG through the comparison of simulation results and theoretical analysis.
