“…These TCA cycle metabolites can be generated from different nutrient sources such as glucose, fatty acids and amino acids. To trace the changes of metabolites from the same nutrient source, we incubated freshly isolated retinas with 13 C glucose and analyzed 13 C glucose-labeled metabolites by GC MS as previously reported 25,26 .
