Separation of iron and zinc from manganese nodule leach liquor using TBP as extractant

Abstract: In this work, the separation of total Fe and Zn leading to the purification of Mn from manganese nodule leach liquor were carried out from hydrochloric acid solution by tributylphosphate with methyl iso-butyl ketone (phase modifier) dissolved in kerosene. The simulated solution comprised of 0?29 mol L 21 Mn, 0?12 mol L 21 Fe, 0?087 mol L 21 Zn and 2?3 mol L 21 HCl was used for the study. Different parameters such as extractant and acid concentrations affecting the optimum extraction condition for the investiga… Show more

“…[17][18][19] Kerosene was always added for diluting TBP which has a density that is similar to the density of water. [20,21] In this research, the extraction and stripping behaviours of TBP/kerosene were studied, the desired recovery rate was achieved, and a reliable recovery process was developed.…”

“…Liquid-liquid extraction of zinc(II) by 3-methylquinoxaline-2-thione from nitrate medium investigated [6]. Separation of iron and zinc(II) from manganese nodule leach liquor using TBP as extractant is studied [7]. Solvent extraction utilized for the selective separation of zinc(II) from other elements in hydrometallurgical processing of resources [8].…”
