Separation model design of manufacturing systems using the distributed agent-oriented Petri net

Abstract: Manufacturing systems are hardly modelled and analysed in detail due to the complex and interactive behaviours of the production, movement, maintenance and dispatch on the shopfloor. In this paper, an agent-based modelling methodology is proposed to model the manufacturing systems using the separation model design approach. The agent models are constructed using the distributed agent-oriented Petri net (DAOPN). The DAOPN is a high-level Petri net (PN) and is designed based upon the coloured time Petri net (CTP… Show more

“…The main objective of route selection is to select a feasible route that achieves the most efficient resource utilization with minimum travelling distance and costs (Marzo 2003). Most existing routing methods use the shortest distance heuristic as the criteria for route selection, for example for routing of vehicles (Wang and Lin 2004), routing of products in manufacturing systems (Kuo et al 2005) and routing of communication networks (Griss and Pour 2001). For a centralized routing scheme where global network status is always available, different shortest path algorithms such as Dijkstra's and Belhnan-Ford algorithm (Evans and Minieka 1992) can successfully be applied.…”

“…Petri-net has been widely used in many areas to support the modelling and simulation in various aspects such as manufacturing (Kuo et al 2005, Wang et al 2005) and computer networking. However, certain background knowledge should be acquired before constructing a proper Petri-net model.…”

“…Agent based modeling capabilities. According to the four modeling issues, a distributed agent-oriented Petri net (DAOPN) [1][2] is selected in this paper to model the multi-soccer robot systems. The DAOPN is a type of high level Petri nets [3].…”

“…At the same time, the resolution rules of conflict transitions and competitive tokens are also defined to control the firing of conflict transitions and the releasing of competitive tokens so that the decisions of the DAOPN soccer models can be desired. In general, the high level Petri nets were widely used to model and control the manufactunrng systems [1][2]5], and they are rarely used to model the multi-soccer robot system. Therefore, the proposed approach is an innovative design for the multi-soccer robot collaborative system.…”
