Separation and determination of β‐casomorphins by using glass microfluidic chip electrophoresis together with laser‐induced fluorescence detection

Abstract: A simple, reliable and reproducible method for the separation and determination of five β-casomorphins (β-CMs, namely TPGN, PGPI, TPGI, TPGP and TPPG) based on glass microfluidic chip electrophoresis and laser-induced fluorescence detection is first described in here. The microfluidic chip electrophoresis and laser-induced fluorescence detection system consisted of a home-made glass "double-T" microchip and a simple LIF detector with excitation and emission wavelengths of 473 and 525 nm, respectively. Fluoresc… Show more

“…These data are consistent with the conclusion that casomorphin is not a causative agent for an increased proliferative ability within the poor prognosis group. However, as casomorphin hydrolysis products can be detected in serum, elevated levels have the potential to identify patients within the poor prognosis cluster, and may thus represent a novel prognostic stratification biomarker 24 25 26 .…”

“…In addition to the selection of perfect Tef-PCs, the pH value of the running buffer was found to impact strongly on the separation as reported. 37 After some optimization, the peptides could be baseline separated in 12 s, through a 10 mm PC bed at pH 10.02, with H = 0.81-1.01 mm. The separation speed is comparable with that of the C18-modified silica colloidal stripe, 5 but resolution and overall performance are clearly much improved.…”
