Seonamhaeicola marinus sp. nov., isolated from marine algae

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped, non-flagellated and non-gliding bacterium, designated strain B011, was isolated from marine algae Gracilaria blodgettii collected from the coast of Lingshui county, Hainan, China. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain B011, Seonamhaeicola algicola (96.8 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and Seonamhaeicola aphaedonensis (95.0 %) belonged to the same clade. Optimal growth occurred in the presence of 3.0 % (w/v) NaCl, a… Show more

“…The isoprenoid quinones of strain S-5007 T were extracted from freeze-dried cell material using the two-stage method described by Tindall et al [44] and subsequently analysed by HPLC [45]. Polar lipids were extracted using a chloroform/methanol system and analysed by using two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography, as described previously [46].…”

“…5554, Merck) according to the methods of Tindall et al [21]. Total lipid material was detected using molybdatophosphoric acid, and specific functional groups were detected using spray reagents specific for the defined functional groups, the complete details for which are given in the study by Fang et al [22]. The polar lipid profile of strain 3539 T contained phosphatidyldimethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, one unidentified aminophospholipid, one unidentified lipid and three unidentified phospholipids.…”

“…The 16S rRNA gene was amplified by PCR using the universal primers 27F and 1492R as described by Liu et al [14]. Sequencing was performed according to the procedure described by Fang et al [15]. To ascertain the phylogenetic position of the novel strain, the nearly complete 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain ELS1360 T was submitted to the GenBank database to search for similar sequences using the blast algorithm and confirmed by accessing the EzBioCloud server ( www.…”

“…Salt resistance was tested at 33 °C by using R2A agar, supplemented with different NaCl concentrations (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 %, w/v). The pH range (pH 5.0-9.5, at intervals of 0.5 pH unit) for growth was tested in R2A broth using the buffer system described by Fang et al [15]. Growth under anaerobic (10 % H 2 , 10 % CO 2 and 80 % N 2 ) and microaerobic (5 % O 2 , 10 % CO 2 and 85 % N 2 ) conditions were determined after incubation for 14 days in an anaerobic Hymenobacter luteus YIM 77921 T (NR_134748) Hymenobacter latericoloratus YIM 77920 T (NR_134747) Hymenobacter sediminis ELS1360 T (MH424461) Hymenobacter aquatilis HMF3095 T (KT273903) Hymenobacter pallidus LYH-12 T (LN879491) Hymenobacter xinjiangensis X2-1g T (NR_044003) Hymenobacter tenuis POB6 T (KY196418) Hymenobacter seoulensis 16F7G T (NR_156144)…”
