“…Some of these studies have suggested that the degeneration of the nerve endings (small fiber) was associated with the clinical manifestations of hypoesthesia observed in these pathologies. [16][17][18][19][20][21] In the case of GBS, the pathologic evidence of the nervous degeneration in the dermis also may be related to a worse prognosis of large fiber demyelinating disease. 19 These studies included only histologic studies of the nerve structures carried out by immunohistochemical techniques and not by hematoxylin-eosin.…”

“…In our literature review, mononeuritis multiplex was the most common type of peripheral neuropathy in LV patients 6,10,11,13‐18 . Mononeuritis multiplex involves injury of multiple peripheral nerves in multiple regions of the body and is commonly induced by autoimmune disease, systemic vasculitis, severe burns, diabetes, and infection; it may also occur as a paraneoplastic syndrome 14,20‐22 .…”

“…Perineuritis was first reported by Asbury in 1972 as distally dominant recurrent painful neuropathy characterized by inflammation in the perineurium (1). Other clinical symptoms and comorbid diseases were also reported (1-8,10). As our patient did not have any other malignancy or autoimmune disease, this case was diagnosed as perineuritis complicated with diabetes mellitus (7).…”
