Sensitization to various minor house dust mite allergens is greater in patients with atopic dermatitis than in those with respiratory allergic disease

Abstract: Patients with respiratory allergic disease sensitize to major allergen components of HDM. Those with atopic dermatitis were sensitized to a broader range of minor allergen components of HDM (Der f 11, Der f 13, Der f 14, Der f 32 and Der f Alt a 10).

“…In this study, by referring to the inclusion criteria for AR patients [25], we detected serum Notch signal expression in 100 patients with AR and 50 controls. The expression of Notch1 and Jagged1 in the AR group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference was highly significant.…”

“…Allergic asthma is typically caused by an inhalant allergen such as the house dust mites (HDMs) Dermatophagoides farinae ( D farinae ) and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus . HDMs may cause a variety of diseases during the process of allergic march, including allergic rhinitis (AR), allergic conjunctivitis, and atopic dermatitis (AD) 2 …”

“…82 This may account for the low prevalence of sensitization in people with respiratory symptoms, whereas reactivity in atopic dermatitis is greater. 83 Structurally, Der f 13 contains a hydrophobic binding pocket comprising a β-barrel formed from 10 antiparallel strands, 84 and its sequence similarity to cytoplasmic fatty acid binding proteins alludes to group 13 HDM allergens having a fatty acid transport function. Functional lipid-binding ability for rBlo t 13 85 and for rDer p 13 has been shown and evoked the TLR2-dependent production of IL-8 and GM-CSF by airway epithelial cells.…”
