Abstract: Aerodynamic shape optimization has become well established, with designers routinely performing wing and full aircraft optimizations with hundreds of geometric design variables. However, increased geometric design freedom increases optimization difficulty. These optimizations converge slowly, often taking hundreds of design iterations.
