Sensitivity analysis of experimentally determined grounding grid impulse characteristics

Abstract: The paper presents an experimental determination of the grounding grid impulse characteristics procedure. The measuring circuit configuration and characteristics of the applied equipment arc given. Some of the numerous experimental results for three grounding grid configurations are presented. The paper provides the analysis of the results obtained for various impulse current shapes, magnitudes and discharge points. The results shown are related to the cases without soil ionization around the grid elements.

“…In the following three numerical examples results obtained using the presented transient electromagnetic model will be compared to measured data [18] and to results computed using full electromagnetic models from literature [19,20]. In the first numerical example comparison is made with results computed using a full electromagnetic model and results obtained by measurement in two-layer earth on a simple grounding system [18,19].…”

“…It needs to be stated that contrary to the vast number of simulation oriented papers, there is a great deficiency of carefully documented papers concerned with experimental works on transient grounding grid behavior. Noteworthy exemptions to this rule are given in, e.g., [13][14][15].…”
