Sensitive and Specific Analysis of Two Banned Phenyl Xanthene Dyes in Bottled Chili Sauce by High Performance Liquid Chromatography- Fluorescence Detection

Abstract: The risk of human exposure to phenylxanthene dyes is widely documented. Preliminary analysis of bottled chili sauce samples revealed the presence of two banned phenyl xanthene dyes (rhodamine B and eosin Y). Therefore, a simple, specific, and sensitive approach was implemented for the simultaneous estimation of rhodamine B (RhB) and eosin Y (EsY) in bottled chili sauce. The first high performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detector (HPLC-FLD) was used for the simultaneous estimation of RhB and EsY, bas… Show more

“…Because only 0.3-0.5 ml of the solution is required for the measurement, the absolute mass requirement of Rh B is 3.9-6.5 × 10 −20 g. We compared the LOD obtained here with the literature values for Rh B detection achieved in recent years. As summarized in Table 1, the measurement methods include SERS, 14,15 electrochemistry (electro chem), 16,38 HPLC, 18,39 ELISA, 17 UV-Vis spectrometry, 40 and OFWF, 27,28 respectively. Among them, the OFWF technique-based sensing systems, particularly the MIP-OFHWF proposed here, exhibit an excellent advantage in trace analyte detection, which is several orders of magnitude lower than those of its competitors.…”
