Sensitive and highly selective determination of vitamin B1 in the presence of other vitamin B complexes using functionalized gold nanoparticles as fluorophore

Abstract: The present work describes highly selective and sensitive determination of vitamin B1 (thiamine) using 4-amino-6-hydroxy-2-mercaptopyrimidine capped gold nanoparticles (AHMP-AuNPs) by spectrofluorimetry. The AHMP-AuNPs were synthesized by wet chemical method and were characterized by HR-TEM, XRD, UV-visible, zeta potential and spectrofluorimetry. They show emission maximum at 781 nm while exciting at 520 nm and a large stock shift (261 nm) with a narrow emission profile and good photostability. While adding 0.… Show more

“…A limit of detection of 54 n m was reported with an assay range from 0.15 to 3.5 μ m . Other researchers have attributed the aggregation of negatively charged AuNPs in the presence of thiamine to a neutralization of the NP surface charge . In a fluorescence‐based approach, captopril‐modified yttrium:europium NPs (Y 2 O 3 :Eu NPs) were found to exhibit an increase in fluorescence in the presence of increasing concentrations of thiamine .…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5] This wide field of applications comes from the synergism between the phosphor luminescence and the AuNPs properties, such as good conductivity and favorable biocompatibility [6]. Therefore, in the present study, the Y 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 :Eu 3+ /Au composite is introduced aiming to combine both phosphor's and Au NPs properties which can provide bifunctionalities for high sensitivity/resolution fluorescence imaging and high quality in the detection of different molecules [7].…”

“…4-Amino-6-hydroxy-2-mercaptopyrimidine monohydrate (AHMP) is an interesting ligand. It contains a thiol group which can self-assemble on the AuNP surface [29,30]. Additionally, the amine and hydroxyl groups available in AHMP are free from binding.…”
