Sense of attachment to place and fulfilled preferences, the mediating role of housing satisfaction

Abstract: Purpose -This study aims to examine the possibility that housing satisfaction mediates the relationship between fulfilled preference and a sense of attachment to place. Design/methodology/approach -A 15-item questionnaire was administrated to 751 students residing in residence halls at a public university in Malaysia. The respondents were asked to choose their answer from a four-point Likert scale that was constructed as follows: not at all; very little; mostly; and very much. “…Tenenhaus et al (2005) define a global fit measure (GoF) as the geometric mean of the average communality and average R 2 for endogenous constructs. GoF has been confirmed in a Malaysia context by Khozaei et al (2012). The formula of the index is provided as follows: GoF ϭ 0.56 Akter et al (2011) suggest GoF should be greater than 0.36 to validate the fit of the PLS path model.…”

“…Although some past research has investigated surface manifestations of psychosocial needs such as preferences for particular housing attributes (e.g. Khozaei et al, 2012) and other studies have invoked notions of powerlessness in explaining 388 PM 32,5 discontent among residents of multi-owned accommodation (e.g. Blandy et al, 2006), past research has not directly examined the linkages between more fundamental human needs and residential satisfaction.…”

“…A paper by Ramayah et al (2011) extends PLS in their research model and proven it was suitable in predicting behaviour. Khozaei et al (2012) extend PLS in their work for housing satisfaction, so extend its generalizability to our current model of online waqf acceptance.…”

“…Tenenhaus et al (2005) defined a global fit measure (acronym GoF) as the geometric mean of the average communality and average R 2 for endogenous constructs. GoF has been used in a Malaysia context by Khozaei et al (2012). The formula of the index is provided as follows: Akter et al (2011) suggested GoF should be exceeded than that of 0.36 to validate the fit of the PLS path model.…”
