Semiquantitative classification of ductus venosus blood flow patterns

Abstract: Objectives To identify the range of waveform abnormalities in the ductus venosus (DV) characterized by their timing in the cardiac cycle and to evaluate if they can be categorized into distinct patterns. Methods DV velocity ratios were calculated from peak velocities during ventricular systole (S), endsystolic ventricular relaxation (v), early diastole (D) and atrial systole (a) (S/v, S/D, v/D, S/a, v/a and D/a ratios). The ratios were converted to their Zscores and elevation > 2 SD was assigned as abnormal. C… Show more

“…Specifically, the defect is an incomplete closure of the atrial septum that results in the creation of Recently, examination of the DV flow by pulsed-wave (PW) Doppler at the time of fetal echocardiographic (FE) examination has been suggested, but this method is rather used to check fetal well-being and cardiac functions [8][9][10]. The aim of this study was to assess whether the wave velocities of DV and/or DV peak velocity index for veins (DV-PVIV) can predict the development of PFO.…”

“…mesinden altı adet dalga velosite oranı elde etmiş-lerdir. 9 Bunlar S/v, S/D, v/D, S/a, v/a ve D/a oranlarıdır. Bu oranlardan ilk üçü kardiyak siklus esnasında ardışık olarak oluşmakta olup: S/v oranı; AV kapak açılmadan önce atriyuma dolan kan akı-mının büyüklüğünü, v/D oranı; erken diyastolik dolumun büyüklüğünü, D/a oranı; pasif ve aktif diyastolik dolum sırasında antegrad akımın büyüklü-ğünü ifade etmektedir.…”

“…Diğer ardışık olmayan oranlardan S/D; ventriküler sistolün erken pasif doluşa oranını, S/a; ventriküler sistolün aktif diyastolik doluma oranını, v/a; geç sistolik doluşun geç diyastolik doluşa oranını gösterir. 9 Özhan ve ark. 542 tane anormal fetal DV akım trasesi [sağ kalp defekti 29 kişi, immün/nonimmün hidrops 20 kişi, ikizden ikize transfüzyon sendromu (TTTS) alıcı 240 kişi, TTTS verici 160 kişi, intrauterin gelişme kısıtlılığı 93 kişi] saptanan hastayı retrospektif olarak DV dalga velosite oranları açısından değerlendirdiklerinde anlamlı olan üç farklı akım paterni izlediklerini bildirmişlerdir.…”
