“…Among these remaining studies, 166 studies were excluded from our meta‐analysis because 82 studies were unrelated to varicocele, 23 studies did not report sufficient data for synthesis, 33 studies were conducted in animals, 17 studies were reviews associated with varicocele, 6 studies were letters, and 5 studies were guidelines for varicocele. Finally, a total of 12 studies were included in our meta‐analysis with a total of 845 patients diagnosed with varicocele and 2,377 healthy controls, all meeting our inclusion criteria (Blumer et al., 2008; Blumer et al., 2012; Camargo et al., 2021; Dieamant et al., 2017; Finelli et al., 2021; Jellad et al., 2021; La Vignera et al., 2012; Santana et al., 2019; Smith et al., 2006; Talebi et al., 2008; Tanaka et al, 2020; Wu et al., 2009).…”

“…IL‐1α and IL‐1β have been reported to be increased in the VC model 33,34 . Camargo et al found that IL‐1, IL‐18 and caspase‐1 decreased in semen after varicocelectomy by ELISAs 35 . Micheli et al tested seminal plasma samples and found that sperm apoptosis, IL‐6, and TNF‐α were increased in VC patients 36 .…”
