“…Variations in the barrier potential of CNTs-metal contact or CNTs-CNTs junctions cause changes in CNT resistance in defect free CNTs. The gases released during the combustion of fossil fuels, such as CO 2 [ 131 , 132 , 133 ], CO [ 134 , 135 , 136 , 137 ], SO 2 [ 138 , 139 , 140 , 141 , 142 , 143 , 144 , 145 , 146 , 147 ], NO 2 [ 136 , 148 , 149 , 150 , 151 , 152 , 153 , 154 , 155 ], and NO [ 156 , 157 ], adsorb on the CNT surface either physically or chemically. Figure 6 shows the bonding behaviour and charge transfer between CNTs and the molecules of C–O.…”

“…The MWCNTs grown on Co nanoparticles exhibited high sensitivity of 2.1 at 5000 ppm, towards CO 2 gas, with fast response and recovery time as 30.21 s and 49.62 s, respectively, at room temperature, while CNT composite-based film sensors with different concentrations of alumina (Al 2 O 3 ) show excellent changes in conductance when exposed to CO 2 ranging from 50 to 450 ppm. The speed and stability of CNT based sensors are found to be favourable for CO 2 sensing [ 95 , 105 ]. SnO 2 -based CO 2 sensors have attracted favourable attention of the research community for the detection of different gases owing to effective enhancement in sensitivity.…”

“…where R a is the resistance measured for the sensor when exposed to air, and R g is resistance of the sensor when exposed to target gas. A gas sensor for the detection CO 2 was developed employing a multiwall carbon nanotube/Al 2 O 3 composite [73]. The aim of the research was to assemble a sensor capable of monitoring CO 2 concentrations variations in air, since the impact of CO 2 on the global warming is one of the biggest concerns today.…”
