Self‐Instructional Modules: Comparison of Modeling and Feedback Media

Abstract: This study addressed the effectiveness and efficiency issues in a self-instructional Iearning activity in counselor training. The study specifically examined three media (written, audio, and video) of model and of self-generated performance feedback presentation. Robinson, Froehle, and Kurpius (1979) developed and empirically evaluated a self-instructional communication skills training program based on the principles of social learning theory. Although their program contains the essential components specified by Cormier and Cormier (1976), it has not been tested against more traditional methods of teaching communication skills to beginning counselor trainees.…”
