“…As previously described, water jet rinsing proved to be effective when the sludge was sufficiently dense and in "good health" (i.e., not subject to stress conditions due to feed or operation). Nevertheless, physical mesh cleaning usually has temporary effects on the system's filtration performance, with losses of suspended solids through the mesh and a decrease in overall effluent quality during the transient phase of new DM formation [21].
