Self-Crosslinking and Surface-Engineered Polymer Vesicles

Abstract: Powerful vesicles with great stability and multiple surface functionalities, like vesicles coated with gold nanoparticles (Au‐crosslinked vesicles (CVs)), BSA proteins (BSA‐CVs), nucleic acids (DNA‐CVs), or carboxy groups (carboxy‐CVs), are successfully prepared through a so‐called “precrosslinking and postfunctionalization” method and by a very simple one‐step “mixing and grafting” process.

“…The new absorption peaks found in the range of 380–450 nm proved the formation of conjugated structure caused by the Michael addition reactions between quinone moieties and nucleophiles (Figure 1d). [ 36 ] Data presented above shows that catechol groups could be oxidized by air in the hot pressing procedure without any additional oxidants. The formation of gel with a gel content of about 47.5% by putting the collected polymers after hot pressing in DMF further testified that the crosslinking reaction did occur in the adhesion process.…”

“…[ 40 ] Also, the peak at 360 nm was ascribed to the quinone structure, which proved the oxidation ability of Fe 3+ . [ 36 ]…”

“…Monometallic hydroxides (e.g., nickel hydroxides and cobalt hydroxides) were usually synthesized under ambient conditions in air, which would lead to the inevitable oxidation of Ni 2+ or Co 2+ into their trivalent state. Therefore, positively charged Ni 3+ -doped Ni(OH) 2 and Co 3+ -Co(OH) 2 would be produced under the regular conditions from the transformation of monometallic hydroxides [78][79][80][81]. Although many studies have been devoted to monometallic Ni(OH) 2 -and Co(OH) 2 -based materials for OER, their electrocatalytic activity is still not satisfactory.…”

“…1 Self-assembly is a widely-accepted strategy for constructing nano-objects with diversified morphologies including spheres, worms, vesicles, and others. [2][3][4][5][6] Such a strategy is based upon the synthesized block copolymers and requires several necessary post-polymerization steps such as synthesis and purification before self-assembly process. 7 In addition, the traditional self-assembly is usually conducted at extremely low concentration of polymers.…”
