“…We also coated the nanograss structures with octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) to improve the hydrophobicity and show self-cleaning functionality. 1 The optical properties of nanograss glass did not change significantly with OTS coating. Figure 5b(i) shows the optical performance of nanograss glass with green circles and OTS-coated nanograss glass with blue squares.…”

“…The details of the fabrication process and the dimensions of the nanograss glass and OTS-coated nanograss glass are described elsewhere. 1,8 Figure 5b shows (ii) optical and (iii) SEM images of our high transparency and high haze nanograss glass. 8 The nanograss structure can also be made on plastic.…”

“…Adhesion, in a broad sense, can refer to the properties of an adhesive joint (solid-adhesive-solid system), or to a combination via van der Waals force (dry adhesion), surface absorption and attraction [22][23][24][25]. Herein, we focus on any surface-induced obstacles that hinder liquid flow on the surface in any direction or away from the surface, quantified by CA hysteresis (CAH), sliding/rolling angle (SA) or relevant force named as adhesive force, retention, resistance or friction [26,27].…”

“…Nanostructured surface can provide numerous advanced and useful function such as for biosensors [1][2][3], imaging [4][5][6], point of-care testing (POCT) for medical diagnostics [7][8][9] and biomimetics [10][11][12]. Glass-based micro/nano structured devices are more desirable, since there are superior in terms of imaging performance, thermal stability and chemical resistance compare to its polymer counterpart.…”
