“…For the isostructural ruthenocene compounds, an irreversible oxidation event was found for the ruthenocene/ ruthenocenium redox couple at E p,ox = 0.58 (6a) and 0.53 V (6b; Figure 4). This is also typical of ruthenocenes, for example, Rc-CϵC-C 6 H 4 -C 6 H 4 -SR [R = H, C(O)Me] [31] or [Ru(η 5 -C 5 H 5 ) 2 ], [59] whereas compounds like [Ru(η 5 -C 5 H 4 PPh 2 ) 2 ] [60,61a] and [Ru(η 5 -C 5 Me 5 )(C 13 Me 8 H)] [62] show a reversible oxidation character.
