Self-assembled centimetre-sized rods obtained in the oxidation of o -phenylenediamine and aniline

Abstract: Morphologically well-defined rods approximately one centimetre in length are effectively and economically obtained by mixing ortho-phenylenediamine oPD (30mM) with ammonium persulfate (APS) (12.5 mM) in an acidic solution (0.37 M HCl) at room temperature with and without the presence of 50 mM aniline. These, self-assembled, morphologically uniform products can be potentially scaled-up and used as morphological templates to fabricate well-defined structures of other materials such as conducting polymers. The pro… Show more

“…For rGO, two broad peaks were observed at 14° and 24°, corresponding to the (001) and (002) planes of rGO. For NIP, the XRD patterns at 14.6°, 22.1°, 25.3°, and 33.3° were observed, suggesting the presence of PANI and poly( o -PDA). For pre-elution MIP, the XRD patterns were observed at 6.3°, 9.4°, and 18.9°, indicating the presence of the copolymer PANI and poly( o -PDA). Notably, the copolymer pattern was shifted from its initial position, and other small peaks were observed.…”

“…Importantly, hydrogen bonding played a crucial role in this perfect cooperation. [11] With the addition of Ag + , the perfect cooperation was destroyed which caused the optical properties to change (Figure 11). The reversibility of the sensor function was tested by addition of Ito the silver-sensor complex.…”
