Self‐assembled anionic micellar template for polypyrrole, polyaniline, and their random copolymer nanomaterials

Abstract: We report an anionic surfactant approach for size and shape control in polyaniline, polypyrrole, and their polyaniline‐co‐polypyrrole random copolymer nanomaterials. A renewable resource azobenzenesulfonic acid anionic surfactant was developed for template‐assisted synthesis of these classes of nanomaterials. The surfactant exists as 4.3 nm micelle in water and self‐organizes with pyrrole to produce spherical aggregates. The sizes of the spherical aggregates were controlled by water dilution and subsequent oxi… Show more

“…The observed peak at 2θ = 25.9°in Fig. 29 For PPy, the peak appeared at 2θ = 18.1°also indicates a semicrystalline structure for this polymer. The appearance of this peak suggests the semicrystalline structure for the PAni sample.…”

“…The lowangle small peak at 7.4°is attributed to an ordered arrangement of dopant in the PAni chain. 29 For PPy, the peak appeared at 2θ = 18.1°also indicates a semicrystalline structure for this polymer. 30 The lattice plane d-spacing (d) was calculated based on the Bragg's formula (λ = 2dsinθ).…”

“…The peak around 200 nm refers to the pyrrole micelles. [26] The size distribution analysis of pyrrole, NaDBS and CDC mixture clearly shows the presence of the CDC particles in the solution with a size distribution of 0.5 to 1.5 µm and having a peak at 0.8 µm. The disappearance of first peak (~4 nm) which is present in pyrrole NaDBS solution is due to agglomeration of the small pyrrole-DBS micelles to CDC particles to form larger micelle structures.…”

“…The peak at 1044 is related to C-H and N-H in-plane deformation vibration [40,41] . The vibration bands observed at 963 cm À1 and 780 cm À1 are due to the C-C out of plane ring deformation vibration and C-H out of plane ring deformation [41][42][43] . The spectra of the PS=PPy composites ( Fig.…”
