Self-Aggregation Phenomenon of Promazine Hydrochloride Under the Influence of Sodium Cholate/Sodium Deoxycholate in Aqueous Medium

Abstract: Herein, we have examined the interaction between promazine hydrochloride (PMZ) with bile salts (sodium cholate (NaC) and sodium deoxycholate (NaDC)) at different temperature and composition using conductometric method. The cmc value of pure PMZ and bile salts were also evaluated by tensiometric method. The cmc values attained by the two methods are close to each other. Various physicochemical parameters like critical micelle concentration (cmc), ideal cmc (cmc id ), degree of dissociation of counter-ion (g), m… Show more

“…However, cationic IMH (drug) behaves another way from the typical surfactant. By way of temperature, IMH illustrates a peaked conduct in cmc : The cmc increases as temperature increases from 288.15 to 293.15 K, and after that, their values decrease at 298.15.15 and 303.15 K. Conduct in nonionic amphiphiles was also formerly attained by Islam and Kato, and other investigators in case of amphiphilic drugs view peak behavior in the curve of cmc temperature …”

“…Thermodynamic parameters provide sufficient information about the structural, environmental, and additive effect on the micellization of the amphiphiles. Thermodynamic parameters (standard Gibbs free energy of micellization [Δ G m o ]/enthalpy of micellization [Δ H m o ]/entropy of micellization [Δ S m o ]) of individual surfactants (DTAC & CTAB) and DTAC‐CTAB mixed system in H 2 O/NH 2 CONH 2 were calculated on the basis of mass action model with the help of the subsequent equations: normalΔGm0=()2gitalicRTlnXcmc normalΔHmO=()2gRT2[]dlnXitaliccmcdT S0m0.75em=()H0mG0m/T …”

“…The obtained cmc values of pure compounds and their mixtures in different ratio and temperatures are shown in Tables in absence and presence of NaCl. The value of cmc in case of pure drug at 298.15 K was obtained to be 35.05 mmol kg −1 , which is close to earlier reported value, and value of the mhc of pure hydrotropes was also in fine agreement with the earlier accounted value . As, it is clear from the PMZ structure (Scheme ) the hydrophobic portion of PMZ monomer is small and rigid.…”
