This paper proposes an implementation of the secant optimization method on the watermarkembedding in DTCWT domain. An objective function combining PSNR and NC (The Normalized Correlation)values calculated for a set of common attacks is used in the optimization process. The aim is to enhance the tradeoff between robustness and imperceptibility against the various image processing attacks via an automatic andcareful selection of the scaling factor using optimization. The watermark is inserted in the high energy bands ofDCT-transformed sub-vectors, which were generated from the DTCWT coefficient decomposition of the hostimage. Experimental results performed on a set of 512×512 greyscale images, show better results than theexisting schemes for most common image attacks such as compression, low-pass filtering and noise addition.

Biometric Watermarking Schemes Based on QR Decomposition and Schur Decompositon in RIDWT Domain

In this paper, two new methods are proposed to hide a biometric-based digital watermark generated from an iris image into a color image to resolve ownership conflicts. One of them is the QR decomposition-based approach in the redistributed invariant discrete wavelet transform (RIDWT) domain, and the other is the Schur decomposition-based approach in the RIDWT domain. After the Y channel of the color image in YCbCr space is decomposed by RIDWT, the lowest frequency sub-band is divided into non-overlapping blocks. Blocks with a lower standard deviation are selected to embed each bit of the watermark created from the iris image into a block. Watermarking of selected blocks is performed with QR decomposition in the first approach and Schur decomposition in the second approach. The firefly algorithm is used to balance the robustness and perceptual transparency in hiding the watermark. Experimental results are evaluated in terms of robustness and imperceptibility to prove the effectiveness of the proposed systems. In addition, validation performances are analyzed based on false rejection rate, false acceptance rate and equal error rate. The results show that both methods have high perceptual quality and robustness, and also a very low error rate in ownership verification.

A Robust Medical Image Watermarking Scheme Based on Nature-Inspired Optimization for Telemedicine Applications

Medical images and patient information are routinely transmitted to a remote radiologist to assist in diagnosis. It is critical in e-healthcare systems to ensure that data are accurately transmitted. Medical images of a person’s body can be used against them in many ways, including by transmitting them. Copyright and intellectual property laws prohibit the unauthorized use of medical images. Digital watermarking is used to prove the authenticity of the medical images before diagnosis. In this paper, we proposed a hybrid watermarking scheme using the Slantlet transform, randomized-singular value decomposition, and optimization techniques inspired by nature (Firefly algorithm). The watermark image is encrypted using the XOR encryption technique. Extensive testing reveals that our innovative approach outperforms the existing methods based on the NC, SSIM, and PSNR. The SSIM and NC values of watermarked image and extracted watermark are close to or equal to 1 at a scaling factor of 0.06, and the PSNR of the proposed scheme lies between 58 dB and 59 dB, which shows the better performance of the scheme.
