Self‐Adaptive Re‐Organization Enables Polythiophene as an Extraordinary Cathode Material for Aluminum‐Ion Batteries with a Cycle Life of 100 000 Cycles

Abstract: Aluminum-ion batteries (AIBs) have attracted great attentions in recent years. Organic materials such as polythiophene (PT) are promising cathode for AIBs. However, the capacity and cyclic stability of conventional organic cathode such as PT are limited by the inadequate degree of reaction and the unstable nature of organic materials. To obtain high-performance organic cathode, a new PT with the ability of self-adaptive reorganization was prepared. During cycling, its molecular chain can be re-organized, and t… Show more

“…11,12 In addition, the reversible diffusion of chloroaluminate ions is facilitated by the moderate intermolecular interactions of organic materials. 11,13 Motivated by the above advantages, considerable efforts have been devoted to identifying organic hosting materials among various classes, including conductive polymers, 14 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons 15 as well as conjugated carbonyl, 13 imine, 16 azo 17 and quaternary ammonium 18 compounds. Albeit signi cant progress achieved, the use of organic cathodes in RABs faces challenges.…”
